Why Hypnobirthing?

My courses are designed for first-time parents, second or third pregnancies, and those who’ve experienced birth trauma or anxiety before. Hypnobirthing isn’t about “one perfect birth” — it’s about giving you the tools to feel calm and confident, no matter what.

  • Reduces stress, fear and anxiety about birth

  • Helps you stay calm and in control, even if plans change

  • Encourages smoother labour and recovery

  • Empowers partners to feel involved and supportive

  • Creates a positive, memorable start to parenthood

What is biomechanics and physiological birth

Biomechanics is simply:

  • how your bones, muscles and ligaments move and balance during pregnancy and birth

  • how your baby responds to those movements to find the easiest way out

  • how positions, posture, and tension can affect the space inside your pelvis

Physiological Birth is

  • birth unfolding naturally, with your body’s own hormones and instincts leading the way

  • trusting that your uterus, pelvis and baby are designed to work in harmony

  • supporting your body’s rhythm instead of fighting against it

Why it helps:

  • Better positions = more space for baby. Certain moves or resting positions help your baby rotate and descend more easily.

  • Less tension = more flow. When you’re relaxed, your muscles and ligaments are softer, which helps your pelvis open.

  • Movement helps your hormones. Upright, forward and open positions encourage oxytocin (your “love hormone”) and make contractions more effective.

  • You stay in control. Knowing what your body is doing helps you feel calmer, more confident and connected to your baby.

In my hypnobirthing classes, we blend the mind (calm, confidence, and relaxation) with the body (movement, balance, and biomechanics) — so you can work with your body and baby, not against them.

Why Hypnobirthing Makes a Difference

Evidence you can trust

As a practising doula and hypnotherapist, I see how reducing fear and increasing confidence changes birth journeys. The research backs it up: methods like self-hypnosis, visualisation and relaxation (all core to hypnobirthing) are shown to help with anxiety, perception of pain, and overall birth experience.

Pain relief: A meta-analysis found that hypnosis during labour was associated with around half the need for analgesia compared to controls.

Shorter labour: An RCT of hypnobirthing training in first-time mothers showed significantly shorter labour hours compared with no or standard training.

Better experience & less fear: Training in hypnobirthing has been shown to reduce fear of childbirth, pain scores and interventions, while increasing vaginal birth rates.

Note: While results are encouraging, outcomes vary and research is still developing. My courses bring these evidence-based tools together with personalised support to help you get the best possible outcome for your birth.
